Car Concerns
The American Auto Manufacture's Shine At The International Auto Show In Detroit Harry Douglas
I hope that the Great American Automobile consumer responds to the American manufactures as they make an effort to capture our hearts and driving desires once again. Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler pulled out all the stops at the Cobo Center along the Detroit River.
On my automotive radio talk show, Car Concerns, just before I left for the Detroit Automobile Show I have started a campaign to get the American Motorist of today to "DRIVE AMERICAN" before a foreign manufacture takes the top spot for themselves. As it stands now, if the American Retail Automotive Consumer does not support the American Auto makers then they could very well go the way of the Dinosaur. That would be ashamed and something that we would live to regret.
I get the opportunity to drive all the new models and I think that the perception that Japanese vehicles, as well as German made vehicles, are superior to American cars. That myth just does not exist today as Detroit rolls out a bumper crop of fantastic vehicles that are sure to sway the opinions of their new owners.
Oh...their head-turners as well !!!!!
This past Saturday on "Car Concerns" my special guest was John Clor of Ford Motor Company's Special Vehicle Team. John assured the Car Concerns audience that Ford has some very exciting product in the pipe line that will be sure to excite.
When I ask John what his thoughts were as it just came out that General Motors had just lost two more market share points his reply was, "Until Ford, as well as General Motors and Chrysler make the effort to change the current generation of automotive consumer realize that the American made automobile is every bit as good as the Japanese vehicle then it will continue to be a uphill battle I'm afraid."
I am convinced that Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler can recapture the hearts and minds of the consumer. How long this will take is a big question. Does Detroit have the luxury of time?
I know I am going to do my part to make sure that the consumer realizes that not only is the American Auto Industry hurting and it is all because we have this appetite for cars and trucks made in a foreign land. Also, it is because we are buying vehicles where the money benefits the auto manufacture in another country and takes its toll on the American Auto Worker.
And we wonder why so many jobs are going over seas!
On Car Concerns this Saturday from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. as John Clor of Ford Motor Company's "Special Vehicle Team" joins me as I turn-up the volume on my 'DRIVE AMERICAN-AMERICAN DRIVEN" Campaign on WNOX 100.3-FM on the CarLane Network.
Car Concerns can also be heard "LIVE" every Sunday afternoon from 1:00 till 3:00 PM
on The Horne Radio Network.
