The same thing that is wrong with the Detroit Auto Manufactures is the very same thing that is wrong about this Obama Auto Team. NO CAR GUYS!
When there is an electrical issue at home common sense tells you not to call on a Plumber for the Fix. You call a quilified Electrican and get it fixed right the first time and be done with it.
Chrysler and General Motors are in a tailspin. But is it non-reversable? No, it is fixable.
As a veteran, award winning new car dealer for twenty plus years I know that impossible situations are fixable even in tough economies.
The fix for Chrysler and General Motors are right here in my computer. I have calculated and figured what steps would have to be made to get these two auto giants back the market share they enjoyed in 2000. Its right here beneath this key board. To be profitable!
Is it drastic? It is back-breaking painful. It is not so much about the product because the products from these two auto builders are fantastic. It's not really about the management of Chrysler and General Motors except for them being top-heavy from the CEO and down.It is not even about the manufacturing on the plant floor.
It is to some degree about the hardship that the UAW factors in. But in reality even that could be overcome if the missing element was applied with conviction.
The Blue-Print for a complete turn around would have to have the coperation from all. From the Board-of-Directors, to the Chairman, and right on down the line. Oh, and yes Dealers would also sacrafice. The pain would be plenty but the pay-off would be a return to 17 + milliom units sold in America.
The big winner would be the American Retail Automotive Consumer. They would once again look forward to the entire car shopping experience.
I am now and automotive analyst and host of the radio talk show Car Concerns.
